ABOUT

Hi, my name is Hunter Holbrook. I am a game designer that has a special interest in combat design. I like to design and create weapons, abilities, and other aspects of combat for my projects. I often find myself playing games and thinking about how I would change or rebalance certain abilities and weapons if I were the designer. Thinking of all the possible changes that just one aspect of a game could undergo is something that really excites me. Thinking further into how it could fundamentally change how the game is played is the icing on the cake for me. I love that even with simple changes, you can really make a game more fun and engaging for the player.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree at High Point University. During my four years at HPU, I studied many aspects of game design. The experience that I gained allowed me to expand my knowledge and passion for the art. 

I have worked on projects that range from board games, made with cardboard, to digital games made in Unreal Engine. All of these projects involved learning new things and adapting quickly as I worked. I have found that a good game designer knows that they always have something new to learn when working on projects. The learning process truly is a never-ending quest.

 

On most of these projects, I also had the opportunity to work alongside of my peers. I had to learn the importance of cooperation, communication, and sometimes leadership. Game design is a team-based operation that requires all individuals to do their part. I learned very quickly how to work under pressure and time constraints. All the while, I helped my fellow game designers when they needed it so that we could create the best product possible.

I have loved and immersed myself into video games for as long as I can remember. Becoming a game designer has been my dream since the sixth grade. Video games are my passion.
